Do I need to own mahjong tiles to take the class?

Nope. You don't need tiles to participate. Classes are fully virtual on Zoom, and the teaching happens through the card, example hands, and live play concepts. Many students take the class first and then buy tiles once they're hooked.

What if I can't attend the live session?

Every class comes with a recording. Register, miss the live session, and watch the replay at your own pace. You get everything from the class including the Q&A portion. No FOMO required.

Is this American Mahjong (National Mah Jongg League card)?

Yes. All of Lara's classes are based on the official NMJL card. If you're playing American mahjong with the standard card your group buys each year, you're in the right place.

How many students are in each class?

Classes are small by design so every student gets real attention. Lara keeps them intimate enough for genuine Q&A, not a passive lecture. Check individual class listings for specific capacity details.

What's your refund policy?

All sales are final. That said, if something comes up, you can transfer your registration to a future class date as long as you reach out at least 48 hours before the class starts. Just email us and we'll take care of it.

Do I need to download Zoom?

A free Zoom account is all you need. You can also join from your browser without downloading anything. Most students find the free version works perfectly. A stable WiFi connection makes the experience much better than mobile data.

I've never played any card or tile game. Is this still for me?

Most of Lara's classes assume you know the basic rules — how to play, what the Charleston is, and how to read the card. If you're truly brand new, a private lesson or beginner-specific content is a better starting point. Check the skill level tag on each class description above.
