There is a moment in every mahjong player's journey when the books and videos take you as far as they can, and what you really need is to play live with someone who can answer your question in real time. That is what these sessions are. Each one is a small, friendly American mahjong class on Zoom, taught by Lara (and sometimes wonderful guests like Jillian Krohne and Mrs. Mahj), focused on the skills that actually move your game: the Charleston, defensive play, reading exposures, and special variations like Siamese Mah Jongg. Do I need to be advanced to join a strategy session?
Not at all. Sessions are labeled by focus, like Charleston or defense, so you can pick one that matches your comfort level. Lara keeps every session warm and beginner-friendly, and questions are always welcome.
How does a live mahjong class on Zoom actually work?
You join from home with your tiles and card in front of you. Lara teaches with a top-down view so you can follow along hand by hand, and there is plenty of time to ask questions. If you cannot make it live, check the session details for replay availability.
What if I want ongoing practice instead of a one-time class?
That is exactly what The Confidence Club is for. It is our monthly membership with regular live play, replays, and a supportive community of women learning together.
