The 2026 American Mahjong Society card on a table surrounded by mahjong tiles

Two free guides

Everything I counted on the
American Mahjong Society card,
in two one-page guides

Six hands on this card can't take a joker at all. Not harder without one, impossible. I counted every line on the 2026 American Mahjong Society card, then set it beside the NMJL card so you can see what's the same and what isn't. Two free one-page guides.

What's inside

  • 1The six hands no joker can fill. A joker needs three or more of the same tile. Six hands here are pairs, singles and runs, so nothing fits. All six are named.
  • 2What this card wants off your rack. Dragons in 49% of hands, winds in 39%, flowers in 37%. Forty-one of the 49 hands are open.
  • 3Where the points sit. Only 14 hands pay 25 here. It stops at 50 instead of 75 and still averages higher than the NMJL card.
