Stage 1: Read the Table

You'll learn to map an opponent's exposure to the hands it could actually be, narrow that down as more exposures land, and read the discards already on the table like the information they are. Process of elimination, applied in real time.

You're ready to move on when: you can look at someone's exposure and name two or three hands she might be building.

Stage 2: Defense as a Skill

You'll learn the difference between a safe discard and a dangerous one, and how that line moves as the game goes on. You'll also learn the offense-to-defense pivot: knowing when your own hand isn't worth pushing anymore, and when playing for the wall is the smartest move you can make.

You're ready to move on when: you can honestly rate your own hand mid-game and act on that rating, even when it means backing off.

Stage 3: The Social Game

You'll learn to host: table setup, pacing a mixed-level game, and making a newer player feel welcome instead of behind. How to settle a ruling or a dispute kindly, with the card and the current rules as the referee, not your opinion. How to teach a friend without taking over her hand. And how to win and lose well, because the table remembers how you played, not just whether you won.

You're ready to move on when: people specifically ask to be at your table.
